Oregon chain scale. This is a handy piece of self adhesive plastic that you can attach to your workbench to measure out chains to the correct length without having to count each drive link.

The smoother the surface this sticks to, the better. When we make chains in our workshop, we protect the scale with clear acrylic sheet to give it extra life, otherwise dragging the chain across it will cut it in no time.
