Husqvarna users will require a GB912 adapter for this bar. A GB lo pro drive rim must be fitted, even if your existing sprocket is 3/8" lo pro. A 3/8" lo pro drive sprocket is not the same as a standard 3/8" drive sprocket.

GB Extra Thin Bar Compatibility
This bar is specifically designed for use with the Stihl 3614-63PMX chain and Panther 3/8" lo pro ripping chains. When entering the world of chainsaw milling, the term ripping chain can be confusing due to conflicting information online. In reality, a ripping chain is simply a micro or semi-chisel chain filed at a 10-degree angle instead of the usual 30 degrees. Some users may opt for a 5-degree or 15-degree angle—the steeper the angle, the more aggressive the cut but with a rougher finish; the shallower the angle, the smoother the board but with a less aggressive cut.

Choosing the Right Chain for Ripping Timber

Best suited for smaller milling rigs (25"/61cm and under).
Has higher depth gauges, resulting in a less aggressive bite compared to the Stihl PMX chain.

“Oregon 91R Low Profile Ripping Chains are specifically designed for portable chainsaw mills and applications where cutting with the grain is required. The only difference from standard chains is the cutter grinding angle.”

Granberg 3/8 Lo Pro

Adapted ripping chain that performs well, but some cutter modifications may be crude, making sharpening more challenging.

“Adapted scoring and clearing cutters enable a faster cut while maintaining a smooth cutting face and milling action.” Keep in mind, no chain will completely resolve slow milling issues—it is simply a modified semi-chisel chain.
